I am determined to spend 2007 in learning and updating and renewing my mind to the blessings that God has promised and provided. God loves us so deeply that He has given us principles to live by, to go by, and to follow. The principles work and cause “it” to work. Like the manual for a piece of equipment, if we follow the directions of His principles it works, and if not then it doesn’t. Therefore, our understanding of God and His Word and His will are of the utmost importance, if we want the blessings to be ours. The study, meditation, and revelation of Him and His Word will renew our mind, and we will be transformed to receive His blessings. The Lord speaks to us from the beginning. Thank God! He is the beginning and the end; the Alpha and the Omega, the Author and Finisher. Genesis 1:2 says, “And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” What do we learn from this truth? First and foremost the Holy Spirit quickens (or moves). I am hearing more and more ministers speak on the Holy Spirit and prayer. They are encouraging the believers to pray in the Holy Spirit. Some are saying, “Set aside one hour the first thing each day to pray in other tongues.” You can’t do that without being edified, charged up, strengthened with all might in your inner man, speaking the mysteries of God and receiving revelation, and the list of benefits go on! Why? Because you are “building up yourselves on your most holy faith” (Jude 20). You begin to KNOW that God wants to bless you. After all, He sent His beloved Son to the earth and raised Him to be seated at His right hand for that very purpose. Secondly, God said “light be” in Genesis 1:3 and it was so. Therefore, we must say what we want “to be,” and take no thought saying “what is” – that we do not want. Remembering at all times that what you speak, sow or plant or give yields after its own kind. One thing that went off inside of me like a bomb exploding was that even though I am a giver and I had given and given, I had failed to use my authority over what I had sown! It’s amazing how these simple but powerful principles have a way of slipping into the back of our minds, but are not called to remembrance to do! Believe me, I am using my authority now and will continue to do so! “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:26). “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth” (Genesis 1:28). Remember, we are renewing our minds to believe and know that God wants us to be blessed and to be a blessing to others. So many are living in the present from what has been in their past. We can’t do that. What is happening is that we are renewing our minds beyond the measure in which we have functioned in the past. Whatever it is, I want my mind, will, feelings and emotions to be secure in God and His Word. I want results, and yes, on an even greater and larger scale than we have experienced! We are to live our lives as He has made us - in His image. The New Testament tells us we are to imitate Him; and that as He is, so are we. Thinking on this alone will elevate your dream, hope, and faith to a higher level. When you consider how longingly God wants us to have dominion (to rule; to prevail against) over the fish of the sea, the fowl of the air, the cattle, and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, you want to rise up and take dominion. Could His urging us to “decree” be profoundly connected to renewing our mind and taking our rightful authority? Look at verse 28. He blessed mankind! His blessing included being fruitful (as John 15 tells us to do), multiply, replenish, subdue the earth and have dominion. Then in verse 31 God saw that all He had made was very good. This includes blessings! To be blessed is very good in God’s eyes. Jesus came to undo Satan’s works and to restore a spiritual likeness to God. He did, and we are to be renewed in and by knowledge. (For study see First John 3:8; Second Corinthians 3:18; Ephesians 4:23-24; Second Peter 3:18; and Philippians 1:9.) Hallelujah!
